Upright city bikes with a comfortable saddle, a low step-through frame and a rear rack. You sit upright and look around, which is what you want in a city like this.
Budapest is flat on the Pest side, and the Danube embankment runs for kilometres with almost no traffic. Margaret Island is car-free from one end to the other. City Park, Andrássy Avenue and the whole riverside are easy to cycle with no climbing. A bike also covers three or four times what you could walk in the same afternoon.
Every bike goes out checked, with a lock and a paper city map. We size the saddle for you before you leave and show you the routes worth taking on the map.
Margaret Island. No cars at all. A loop of the island takes about half an hour at an easy pace, and there is a running track, a musical fountain and a lot of shade.
The Danube embankment. Flat, wide and separated from traffic for most of its length. Parliament from the water is a favourite photo.
City Park and Andrássy. Ride the avenue out to Heroes’ Square, then into the park for the baths, the castle and the lake.
Buda side. Doable but hilly. If you want the Castle District without the climb, that is what the Segway tours are for.
Bike rental is self-guided — you take the bike and go. If you would rather have a guide with you, message us on WhatsApp and we will sort it out personally: Segway tours through the Castle District and the riverside, or a guided ride on Monster Bikes.
Nothing is charged today. Reserve the bike, bring a photo ID, and settle it when you collect.
