Full description

Buda Castle and the Fisherman's Bastion area offer a rare combination of history and architecture. Buda Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage site, home to Hungarian kings for centuries and now housing the Budapest History Museum and the Hungarian National Gallery.

Fisherman's Bastion itself is a neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque terrace overlooking the Danube, named after the fishermen who once defended this stretch of the city walls. Its seven towers represent the seven Magyar tribes that founded Hungary.

Together these sites trace Hungary's story from medieval times to the modern era. The area around them is full of quiet streets, small cafes and shops — and on a Segway you cover all of it without the climb.

Questions guests ask

How much time should I plan for the Fisherman's Bastion Tour? +

1.5 Hours of riding, plus about 20 to 30 minutes for the briefing and the test drive, which are not part of the riding time. Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the start.

How much does the Fisherman's Bastion Tour cost? +

From 39 euro per person at the 08:30 departure, and 49 euro per person on the later group departures. You pay at our office on the day, in cash.

Can I cancel my booking? +

Yes. Tell us at least 12 hours before your tour starts and that is it. You pay nothing when you book, so there is no fee to charge and no refund to wait for. Most booking sites ask for 24 hours notice and hold your money until then. We do not.

Do I pay anything when I book? +

No. We do not ask for a card and we take no payment online. You reserve the time, and you pay at our office on the day of the tour.

How do I pay on the day? +

In cash, at our office before the tour. We take euro, forint, dollars and pounds, and you get a receipt. We do not accept cards.

Do I need experience to ride a Segway? +

No. Every tour starts with a briefing and a supervised test drive in a quiet spot, and you only set off once you are comfortable. Most guests have never stood on one before.

Is there a minimum age or weight? +

Yes. Riders must be at least 8 years old and weigh at least 35 kg. The tour is not suitable for pregnant travellers.

What happens if it rains? +

We ride in light rain and give you a raincoat at no cost. If the weather is bad enough that riding is not sensible, we move your booking to another time, also at no cost.

Where do we meet? +

At our office, Haris köz 2, 1052 Budapest. It is a small street off Váci utca in the centre of Pest, a few minutes on foot from Ferenciek tere and Deák Ferenc tér.

How many people ride with one guide? +

Eight at most. Larger bookings are split into groups of eight, and each group gets its own guide.

Which languages do you guide in? +

English on every tour. German, Russian, Spanish, French and Hebrew are available on private and group bookings for a flat 10 euro.

Do we get photos? +

Yes. Your guide takes photos along the route and sends them to you after the tour. There is nothing extra to pay.

When can I reach you? +

Every day between 08:30 and 20:00, by phone, WhatsApp or email. Seven days a week, including weekends and holidays.

Why book here instead of a booking site? +

You book straight with the people who run the tour. Nothing is charged in advance, you can cancel up to 12 hours before, and any question about your booking goes to the guides themselves rather than a call centre.
